The beginning

For our very first Meeples Masquerade we are working to accomplish the following goals.

A Fun and Inviting Event

First and formost we want to create a atmosphere people will enjoy. A Halloween theme’d event should have spooky decor and fun music. It also means finding a big enough venue for everyone that attends to both socialize and take part in the various activityies we are planning.

Engaging Activities

For our first year we want to focus on the things we’ve done in the past that have been successful… a.k.a. games. Boardgames, card games and party games. We’ve also done costume photo-ops and even a costume contests.

Develop a Volunteer Network

I believe great events happen through the colaborative efforts of people sharing their passions. That means we need to find people who are willing to share their passions with others by volunteering. For our first year we’ll be looking for people to host “learn to play” events for their favorite games. However, I also want to connect with people who would be interested in doing other types of activities either this year or in future ones.

Gauging Interest

The first year of an event is always the hardest because you have no idea what kind of turn out to expect. However, events like this also grow over time as people attend and colaborate on how to make it better next year. Let’s start that process and make an event lots of peopel can enjoy

Keep the Event Affordable

For the first year I want to “right size” the event to keep the it as affordable as possible. The primary goal is to have fun, not make money. So all tickets costs will be calculated to cover event costs only. That said any and all proceeds (if any) will be donated to charity.

Discovering whats Possible

A ton of work goes into planning, coordinating and running a public event for the first time and for the first year we really want to test what we are capable of. We also want to establsih the tools and processes needed to manage the event effectivly.
